Where are we going?
I have been thinking about this for quite sometime.
Where is the Indian Media going? Is entertainment and sex the thing for news agencies???
To supplement my theory check out
Rediff and
Indiatimes
In rediff there is an article on 'Akash test fired for 4th time'. This is at 3rd place. Top place goes to 'Costliest Mobile Phones' and second place to 'Goa enchants bollywood'.
It is better to say less about Indiatimes. They have articles on 'Lesbian employee sues Microsoft', 'Hottest Singles', 'Gimme whatever'. And Indiatimes has been rated as the No 1 Indian portal :-(
Does it mean indians are interested in browsing only for entertainment and sex news majorly? Aren't they that much interested in other news items?
Is this why Times Of India is still being called a newspaper, when there is not much of news in it?
I am confused. Media always take the role of policeman of the world. But who will correct the media if they are wrong??
You know, many people in bangalore feel 'The Hindu' as boring :-( Not that I am too much attached to Hindu. I cant forget their editorial on Shankaracharya's arrest. The editorial said everyone is equal in front of the law and they should be treated normally etc. But why did the Hindu management disappear when a warrant was issued by the Tamilnadu Police. Forget the motive behind it. If they are talking about law obiding citizens, then they should also follow the same right???
Why is no one questioning the media??

Case of mistaken Identity!
Today morning I got a call from Citibank. I started off saying, 'I already have a credit card. Not Interested", and was about to bang the phone down. But the lady said 'Sir. You havent paid your bills for last month'. I was taken aback. I toldher, I did pay sometime back and got the new bill as well. She said 'Sir. The bills you encountered during your thailand trip(!!!!!!!!) are still pending'. I was shocked. I had never been to thailand, and was wondering if someone had misused my card. Then I asked her if she was sure, she was talking to the right person. I had to hold on for 2 minutes, then give my card no, date of birth blah blah blah details and then convince her that it wasnt me. Then she realised she was talking to another prabhu.
Another Prabhu in my office, had gone to thailand and it wasnt me :-) But still, I had to hold the line for fifteen minutes and ensure that they dont wrongly debit me :-(
What a way to start a busy day eh?
And I came across this interesting link on mobile hacking. Be careful folks. Check
here for further details

Weekend Round up
Every Sunday I get this weird feeling at around 6 PM, the thought of getting to work next day. I have observed that I feel like this every weekend irrespective of where I have been working.
Anyone else shares the same feeling?
Ferrari are delaying the launch of 2005 Race car. Very similar to the successful tactic they employed in 2002. To know more about it click
here
Not a good weekend for Gunners fans in EPL. Chelsea stretched their lead to 5 points over Arsenal. ManYoo upping their place and breathing down the neck of Arsenal at 4th place. Nice to see Steven Gerrard back!
Yesterday evening in KTV, they were showing some 5 to 6 songs of KamalHassan completely. Nayagan, Hey Ram, Guru etc. Amazing to see different Kamal and different facial expressions. Will keep updating info on 'Mumbai Express'.
Nice to see a new cinema hall at Forum PVR Cinema. But the prices are too high
For e.g in gold class, you have to pay 500 rs per seat. Can you imagine paying 500 rs for a movie!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay it includes booze and food. But still 500 Rs for a movie???????????.
What if the movie turns out to be like naach? My friend says antara mali looks like a "rehabilitating ostrich trying to mate".
